Bladder cancer stage 4. Chemo finished, awaiting team decision for next treatment.
My urination frequency had changed recently, I've mentioned it to my GP who thinks it's not a problem. during the day time, my urination had reduced from every hour or two, to maybe twice in the morning, twice in the afternoon. At night, I still wake up every hour or two to urinate. My water intake is between 2 to 2.5 litres per day.
Any idea what is happening to me?
Hi Coojee. Frequent urination is common after chemo. The chemo inflames and aggravates the bladder lining. Good to know you are taking on plenty of water, but stop about 2 hours before bedtime. As always, let the medic know if things change or get worse. It should gradually get better as the bladder heals. I remember playing golf after my chemo, and got to know every tree on the course. Best wishes.

Dear all
I am 62 and have had TURBT in November and am now halfway through BCG treatment through to year end. I am still working and am lucky enough to have a job where since covid I can work from home. So nothing strenuous and I can drink 2 -3 litres of water per day. I try to stop by 8pm max as to not interrupt my sleep. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am also lucky that I have private medical insurance through work and my consultant undertakes the BCG procedure personally, which I understand isn't always how it works. So I meet with him on a weekly basis.
I seem to urinate more frequently after each BCG on a Thursday, and it seems to calm down by the weekend. But is also obviously related to the water intake.
Terry I am sorry you are not getting the advice from your medical team, this forum is great for at sharing what we are all going through.
Regards
Colin
Hi Terry,
It took a while for things to settle down myself after TURBT and then I started chemotherapy on a 3 month cycle and urinating became a problem again until about 3 week after the Chemo, Just stick in there pal, I know about the uncomfortable twinges around the nether regions.
Dewy........
Hi Terry, most people here are going through different stages of something similar. For me writing this stuff to effectively strangers helps, as whilst my family are 100% supportive, they are desperate for me to be positive etc, so I find it difficult to share my inner fears with them, and it is easier to do so on here.
It is hard to get your head round things, in October I was convinced (and so was my consultant) that I had kidney stones....and now I don't.
I cope by focusing on the next target, and don't look beyond it. I am sure others have different ways of dealing with this.
Regards
Colin
Yes Colin I agree this is a place you can put down all the fears and worse scenarios your mind goes through when you have to deal with a cancer diagnosis .. my family are also very supportive but I hate worrying about them worrying about me so I don't say much xx sometimes my husband will get a depressive mood on him and this will make me feel worse so I have to tell him please stop this you are making me miserable and I really don't want to be ...he does tend to have depression and I've always found it hard to keep him from sinking low ..I can imagine that he is also going through a change in our lives too as I keep telling him this is the card we've been dealt and we have to get on with each day or throw in the towel .. thanks for listening I hope we can all live happy content lives for many years to come
Love Tina xx
