Hi all,
I’m new here and just looking for advice, info and perhaps somewhere to let it all out.
My mum was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. She’s had an op to remove a section of the tumour found for biopsy (two weeks ago) the tumour was 7.6cm in size. So quite a hefty thing. She’s just had her catheter removed today. We’ve also found out she has nodules on both her lungs, too. We’re still waiting for the final results and plan moving forward. The waiting is rough!
Apparently our hospital has their MDT meetings on a Friday, so I’m hoping we hear something this week sometime.
How long do these things normally take?
Sending positive vibes to all going through it themselves or with a loved one xx
Hi, you've reached the right place to share any feelings and ask questions, but bear in mind we are all patients/carers and not medical experts! We are all familiar with the anxiety of waiting for results and finding out treatment options. The biopsy results take about 2 weeks, then as you say, the MDT meeting. Depending on your hosp appt schedule, you should get an appointment soon, but can be a longer wait. Be prepared that they may ask for other tests before deciding on most appropriate treatment options. Best wishes.
Hi,
My dad had TURBT operation on 28/7 and got the catheter removed (TWOC) yesterday 11/8 (after exactly two weeks).
We met the doctor and cancer support nurse last Friday (8/8) discussing with us the results and treatment plan. Hope by now your mum has already had her results discussed with you and plan.
When you say 'she has nodules on both her lungs', can I ask where do you get this from? Did she got a CT scan on her lungs? My dad hasn't done a CT scan on his lungs but that's one of the things that he will be doing.
Best wishes
Hi,
so, mum had an initial CT on her bladder so they could get a clearer look at what was going on. To then be able to see the bottom of her lungs which showed these nodules. Hence the further CT on the lungs.
How’s your Dad doing/feeling about it all? How are YOU doing?
Take care x
