Hi All
Reiki girl here,
I live in Spain and was I was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year and have had 3 ops one to remove a tumor that was not attached to the muscle wall, the next a clean up and check, all was clear, three months later I had an internal scan to find 4 lesions, the third op to remove all, I'm now on BCG treatment which I'm finding ok I suppose, I believe less invasive than Chemo. I've just had treatment 3. having joint pain. dizziness., plus indigestion for a few days after weekly treatment, so its great to be able to talk to people and find out information that I would not get here.
wishing positive energy to all
Hi . Nice to hear you from Spain. I've not had BCG, so not the best to help. Saying that, I have been on here long enough to know that BCG treatment causes many different side effects from mild to more serious, so the symptoms you mention seem fairly common. I know hat doesn't help you much. I am sure some of our BCG members will be along to offer some help and advice. And of course, this place is more than just medical stuff, it is a place to talk and express your emotions to others who understand if you feel like. Best wishes.
Hi and welcome from me too, or as you may be more used to, Hola! My OH had 6 BCG after a start much like yours. I do hope it does the trick for you, and the side effects subside. I just want to add a twopence-worth: if the BCG does not stop the recurrences sufficiently for you [many people get them and just go on, removal, more BCG], the Mitomycin is not such a bad thing.
Mr. D had a recurrence straight after the BCG course and was offered to switch to Mitomycin. This has been really successful for him, to the extent that he is now down to checks every six months. The only struggle for him was retaining it in the bladder as his bladder was very sensitive to it, but it has worked even though he just could not keep it in for the recommended time.
Adios, Denby
Hi Mr W was diagnosed 5 years ago next week He had 24 bcg treatments in total initially every 3 months then 6 monthly Main side effects were headaches and 24 hours painful urination At his
last checkup a month ago he remains cancer free after the same initial surgery as yourself He also gone on to annual checks
At the outset he had to choose from a range of treatment options and when he said bcg the consultant said it would be his choice in my husband's circumstances
Best wishes as you start your journey Just wanted to share our good outcome Sure there will be others along equally positive
Love and best wishes
Wilbert xx
