I have been told T3 but now they have seen something on my liver so need another MRI to possibly re-stage to a 4. Quite anxious about it. Worried to tell my employers
Hi Tedd
Welcome to the forums although I'm sorry you have found yourself here. All the scans and staging is a worrying time, the scans quite often show other things which they have to check out ( mine did), they may turn out to be nothing to worry about and if they don't your team will deal with it. Try and keep busy with things you enjoy, not easy I know. Once you know all the facts and get a treatment plan and dates you will feel more in control. Everyone here has either been through it or going through it and will be here to support you however you need. What is worrying you about telling your employer ?. Sending hugs. Xx
Hi Tedd ,
Another warm welcome from me to the MacMillan Online Community although I’m really sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis.
As Bungle has said the point you’re at right now where staging is incomplete is a terribly worrying time especially if you’re facing potential metastatic disease. We’ve had many people through the forum in my time here that have had liver and/or lung mets & although the beginning of treatment may look a little different they’ve gone on to do well.
I will also echo Bungle with the question of why you’re worried about telling your employer?
Hopefully one of our members that have had a similar diagnosis to your own will be along soon to share their experiences.
Please know we’re here to support you however we can.
Nicola
Hello Tedd
A warm welcome to the forum although I am really sorry to hear of your diagnosis. We all know what a stressful time this is, life becomes like a rollercoaster with no end with all the appointments, biopsies and scans. There is no way of hurrying this process up unfortunately. A lot is going on behind the scenes, MDT meetings (multi-discipline team) are held weekly and they decide on the next investigation. This team also decides on your treatment plan once all the information is in place.
I had a spot on my lung at diagnosis had six cycles of systemic chemo first, then a couple of months break and then went on to have the standard chemo/radiotherapy followed by lung ablations. But although this happened to me, (and I tolerated the six cycles really well) please don't think that this is automatically the route for you. It is very hard waiting to find out what is going to happen, I know.
And you have enough on your mind without worrying about telling your employer, this is an illness that must be treated and you are protected in law
Concentrate on you right now, and the members of this forum will support in any way they can.
Big hug
Irene xx
