Hi all again, update- I had my CT MRI and petscan, which thankfully showed no spread. I’ve had my oncology appointment and next step is a further surgery to remove small tumour what is left then go from there. I felt better because it appears early onset despite symptoms and going down general surgeon path. However I knocked my pelvis on something the other day, it felt a bit sore and on feeling the pubic mound there’s a soft lump. Went to GP didn’t seem to concerned, I called my nurse practioner who emailed my consultant on Friday. Slightly annoying as I saw the consultant Monday but didn’t find this until Thursday. Surly my clear scans have to mean this is just something benign? Just would like to be able to stop the worry train a bit. Thank you to all that offer support on here.
Hello Rocky1
I am really pleased to hear your positive news about your scans but totally understand your worry. I wish we could give you some sort of answer but unfortunately none of us are medically qualified on here (I don't think!) and I think your consultant is best placed to explain (or investigate) the lump.
The worry train is ongoing, especially in the early weeks before treatment starts. I remember it so well and have so much sympathy. There isn't a cure for this unfortunately.
I am very much hoping that the lump is absolutely nothing - please let us know what happens.
Sending a big hug
Irene xx
Thank you for the reply. That’s the thing isn’t it , before all this I wouldn’t be that concerned but now is different. Hopefully will get a reply from consultant this week. Will update. Hope all good your end.
Hi Rocky1 Yes, it is so hard to stop that worry once it gets a foothold in your head but bearing in mind I am also non medically qualified, I would take some comfort from the fact that your GP didn't seem concerned; you have already set things in motion by checking with them and by calling your nurse practitioner. As you say, your scans are clear and if you bumped yourself, it could well be completely unrelated; you've just hurt your pelvis.
But for now you have done all you can; all the people who need to know have been told, and if you need to be seen again to have that soft lump checked, they will call you. You are being carefully monitored by a team of professionals, so try to allow yourself to sit with that, and know that if anything is wrong they will be there to sort it out. xx
Hi Rocky1 ,
Thats really great news regarding your CT, MRI & PET scans but I completely understand your concerns. I was also thankfully diagnosed at stage 1 but had pain in my left hip & regardless of the scan results my brain somehow convinced me that it had invaded my bones & only the results of an X-ray ordered by my GP convinced me otherwise!
I hope that you have since or soon receive some reassurance that this is nothing to be concerned about.
Nicola
Well the nurse practioner called back Thursday and said they will bring my surgery forward and check then. But it’s been bank holiday weekend so still waiting. May even be a small hernia but who knows, you are right the worry gets a bit extreme! Will update when know more.
