Hello. I’m fairly recently diagnosed. Colonoscopy Valentine’s Day. I know most people get roses or chocs - I spent some of the afternoon looking up my bum on a screen! Have now had MRI, CT & PET scan. Tumour T2N1M0. First oncology appointment next week. I am worried but will be glad when I have a treatment plan and start date. I have a couple of health issues but on the whole I am a reasonably healthy 70 year old so fingers crossed. I have been reading posts on this forum and have been purchasing creams and potions. Haven’t yet got a sitz bath but will get one. Finding this forum has been so helpful. Thank you everyone for being not only honest but so very supportive. I am sure I will continue to be a regular visitor to the site.

Hi Lovelylush welcome to the club, you are in the right place everyone will be here for you however you need. My essentials were water wipes and mens baggy boxers. I would say to start moisturising now get you skin as good as you can. Sending hugs. Xx
Hi Lovelylush,
Another warm welcome to the forum from me although I’m sorry that you’ve had to join us. It’s always devastating to receive a cancer diagnosis.
Not a nice valentines day experience at all.
It sounds that things moved very quickly in terms of your scans which shows that your team are very efficient and once you see the oncologist you will have a clear plan and start date.
I also had T2N1 and completed treatment in November 24. The treatment has very good success rates.
There are so many helpful tips here and no question is off limits. We are all here to support you.
Sending hugs xx
Hello Lovelylush
A big welcome to the forum although I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. However, as you have already found out, you have come to the right place for lots of support and tips. We have all been through the treatment or it are having it right now and there truly isn't anything that can't be discussed on here.
I was also 70 at diagnosis, fit and active and the diagnosis was a huge shock. The treatment can be tough but has a very high success rate and hopefully by summer it will all be in the past and you will be getting on with your life (and looking forward to a better Valentine's Day next year!).
Things should really start moving for you now after all all the scans and tests, as I recall treatment started about three weeks after my meeting with the oncologist. You will feel a lot more in control once it is underway and lots of us found it really helpful to keep a calendar to mark off the days - it is surprising how quickly the 28 days pass and don't forget we are all here to help.
Big hug
Irene xx
Thank you for your suggestions. I have ordered something called Wype(?) from Boots. You use it instead of water wipes. However I do have those as well - I think I’m becoming addicted to shopping for “essentials”.
Welcome Lovelylush , although I’m sorry that you’ve had the need to find us.
Gosh what a valentines gift that was eh?
The waiting around for appointments, especially at the beginning, is really difficult isn’t it? Hopefully once you’ve a treatment plan in place & a start date you’ll begin to feel a little more in control as many of us did. I took my treatment schedule to the hospital each day & on the ride home took great satisfaction putting a big old line through that days appointment. It was surprisingly cathartic.
Keep us up to date on how things are going & if you’ve any questions at all then please just ask.
Sending over a virtual hug.
Nicola
