Hi all
had an operation on Friday to clear my anal/pelvic/bowel cancer but sadly did not work. They could not get all of the cancer and have told me there is no cure and I don’t have long. Obviously I am fighting this prognosis and am having chemo again to shrink the tumour and also investigating immunotherapy and other alternative treatments to run alongside. Would love to hear any positive stories or outcomes for people in the same boat!!
hope everyone is doing as well as we can and enjoying life. Thanks so much xxx
Hello Suso
I am just at the start of my treatment ,so I don't have any knowledge to share.
But wanted to send you best wishes for finding a new treatment.
I have read many stories about inoperable cancer, then the tumour was shrank and options became available.
Can your Doctor refer you to a specialist unit for a second opinion?

Hi Suso
Welcome to the forum. Im sorry about your diagnosis, I have everything crossed that you manage to find some alternative treatment. Hopefully the chemo will shrink the tumour enough that you will get offered something else, I'm sure i read on hear about that happening to someone. Sending hugs. Xx
Hi Suso ,
Firstly welcome to the MacMillan Online Community although I’m so incredibly sorry to hear of your diagnosis & for the position you find yourself in right now. I know you’ve said you’re doing chemo & looking at immunotherapy & other therapies so I don’t really have much to add in regards to treatments but as Ally has said hopefully if the chemo shrinks things it may open up other avenues for you & treatments are progressing all the time. It wasn’t until I came here that I realised just how many people continue with their lives living with cancer.
Know we’re here to support you however we can.
Nicola
Hello Suso
This must have been so awful to hear this and my heart goes out to you. I do not have any medical knowledge apart from what I have picked up on here and through my own treatment, but what I have learned along the way is that no one oncologist can predict how a patient will respond to any given treatment. I say this not to give false hope but to underline that there are some cases, where patients, against all odds, have had treatment that has kept the cancer stable, if not in remission.
Push hard for everything you can, check on Cancer Research UK to see if there are any clinical trials you would be eligible for (not all oncologists are aware). I hope very much that whatever treatment you have will open new avenues for you.
And we are always here should you want that virtual hand-hold and support.
Big hug, Suso

Hi Suso, I am really hoping that something will be found that can help you. I hope that the additional chemo will help and that you can access immunotherapy.
I’m so sorry that you’re going through this and although I can’t offer any helpful advice due to my limited experience I hope so much that you are offered everything going.
Big hug to you xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
