I just completed treatment 4 days ago. Needless to say, I'm glad to be done but I have a question for all of you who have completed treatment as well. My biggest challenge right now is the burning and stinging during BMs. I usually have to go 2 - 4 times per day and each time I just dread it. How long before BMs become less painful and hopefully stop being painful altogether? I know it's early after ending treatment but this really causes a great deal of anxiety for me, especially if i have to go around bedtime. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi BeeKay welcome to the forum and well done on getting through treatment. I finished treatment on 6th November 2024 and poos were pain free by the 14th. If the pain is to much ask your medical team for stronger pain relief. I have seen some people on here have pooed into a full sitz bath as doing it in the water helped them. You are early days yet, I think most people turn a corner at the 2 week point, but we are all different. I just used to breath through it and do some weird standing and sitting routine. You will get there and this will soon be a distant memory. Sending hugs. Xx
Hi BeeKay
Well done on getting through your treatment you are now at the tail end and it's awful pain..
My doctor said it will be about 2 weeks of pain before is starts yo get better and when it does it will get better fast.. he was right.. about 2 weeks with the burning.. then it eases..
I agree with Bungle1 .. I used my sitz bath for both wees and poos at this stage..it gives u so much relief ..do whatever it takes to take that anxiety and dread for having a poo..
I go to the toilet every morning now and it's pain free..
Stay strong.. it does get better soon

Hello Beekay, and a big welcome to the forum. Well done - you are out the other side! You just have to remember it is very early days and hopefully you will see an improvement in your pain very soon. The BMs are hellish, I know, and I am sorry that they are causing you so much anxiety. We all got used to drumming our heels and roaring loudly whilst sat on the loo and I remember it well. But it does pass. Maybe a good couple of weeks yet. But please keep in touch with your treatment team, it could be that your pain medication isn't strong enough to help you through these early days after treatment ends.
Big hug Beekay
