4.5 weeks after biopsy and so many scans I am so grateful I did the 60+ poo test as it’s picked up t2 anal squamous cancer. No idea of treatment yet except not surgery and last scan was Pet to check liver and lungs for suspicious dots? Based in SEKent working and avoiding telling too many people as it’s hard work keep getting the questions! Once I know my treatment plan I will open up - mainly to help others know checks are essential and don’t suffer alone - also so glad I joined this group as we all can support each other
Angie, that is such positive news. Now they will crack on with the treatment plan. The standard treatment is combined chemo/radiotherapy over a five and a half week period. It is tough but doable, and we are all here to tell the tale and back enjoying life, sometimes a little bit different but wonderful none-the-less! It will probably take at least another 2 - 3 weeks before you are measured up for the radiotherapy (they target the tumour and try and avoid any surrounding tissue) and all your appointments are in place. And once treatment starts, you will feel so much more in control of what is happening, there is an end in sight.
Let us know how things are progressing before we drown you in information!

That’s great news Angie SE , I’m presuming this news has come from your PET scan results? It’s also good that you now have a point of contact with your consultant & especially your specialist nurse, they can be worth their weight in gold if you’ve any questions regarding your diagnosis/treatment. I agree that your emotions can be conflicting especially as your waiting for your treatment plan & waiting on a start date but as many of us found once your first day of treatment is over you’ll relax into it a little & before you know it you’ll be done & through the other side.

Wow Adele we are almost in synch - please let me know how you go - the waiting is hard to relax hey. Every call and scan means another week or two but the comfort is that our care is all in hand hope you get your plan soon then you can organise life.
Thinking of you and everyone else on here you are all priceless!
Angie
Hi Angie
I hope you are managing okay with the wait, I was at the cancer hospital yesterday for my first appointment with them and was told that my treatment will start within the next 3-4 weeks, so not too long, I just have to have another scan as well.
The registrar told me that when my treatment starts I can expect to get quite a bit of pain initially but that this will subside as my treatment continues and the tumour shrinks, this is different to what actual patients on this site have stated so I’m more inclined to think they are right.
Keep me updated with your progress as it will be nice to know how you’re doing.
Best wishes, Adele. Xxx
