First of all I would like to say a big thank you to Sarah for her suggestion of a portable bidet. I ordered it on Saturday from Amazon and it came yesterday Slight smile it's not a miracle cure but I'm doing 'giving birth' panting instead of stifling screams and the more I use it the easier it gets.  I'd like to ask about a lump on my perineum about the size of a pea or petit pois to be a little more peacise (sorry couldn't help myself) is this okay in the circumstances? I worry about everything but more so as a lady on the forum was talking about a prolapse in/on hers!!    Also there has been no mention since I joined about the subject of mucus!!! I first noticed the green stuff at about 2 and a half weeks into treatment and it frightened the life out of me as I associate that sort of thing with an infection. It's from the front and back passages. I passed on my concerns to my nurse and she assured me that this was normal and would probably get a lot more over time. I now think I'm possessed by the green blob from Ghost Busters and it's a nuisance but I just wondered how long it lasts! Xxx Marie

  • Hi Marie (),

The portable bidets have been the saving grace for lots of people going through this treatment & I ordered one before I began mine although I only had the need to use it once or twice so I’m pleased it’s helping you. Regarding the little lump (petit pois) I would ask your specialist nurse or oncologist if you should get it checked, you have the radiation burns & the new skin forming so there’s a lot going on down there, I think a prolapse would probably be a bit more noticeable but it’s worth getting anything you’re unsure about checked. There’s been discussions on here about mucus in the past, maybe before your time, take comfort in the fact that your nurse has said it’s not unusual & as I’ve said there has been members of this forum that have had issues with discharge. Hold onto the fact that now that you’ve finished treatment in most cases lots of these awful side effect do lessen & most will disappear altogether.

  • Hi @ Mecca as has said there have been discussions on here before about mucous. You’ll probably find it will change colour as you go along. I’ve had clear, yellow, yellow-green, brown, peach and blood streaked which can be alarming but does happen occasionally. I’m now 20 months post treatment and still get it. I find it can make you feel sore so I always try to keep as clean as possible. I’m not exactly sure what causes it but rest assured it’s normal. Bev.
