Hi
I’m new to all this and would just like to say hi
im 6 months post treatment
Hello Muzzie and welcome. Six months post treatment is a good place to be - how are you getting on? Recovery and healing times vary a lot from person to person so it's helpful to hear how things are going for you.
Hope you are doing okay with scans and appointments, they can be quite stressful but intervals between them get longer as time goes on, and it is reassuring to know we are being closely monitored.
I wish you all the very best as you get stronger and your body starts to feel better. xx
Hello Mrs vanilla
im doing ok thanks, a few issues still with pain and swelling now have lymphoedema in places but it’s managed with pain relief, I have a ct scan tomorrow second one since treatment ended so fingers crossed its clear.
and now seeing oncologist every 6 months.
i hope you are doing ok and keeping well.
Hello Muzzie
It is really good to hear from you six months on, although I am sorry to hear you are having some problems. Many of us do, so please, if you want to, share - we all have different (and useful) ways of coping after treatment.
There is a search facility on here where you can bring up other posts that might help you too. We all need some help now and then, and please post here if you have a problem - the beauty of this forum is that we can say exactly what is going on and remember there is no judgement or surprise on what may be posted here.
A big welcome!
Irene xx
Hi Irene
Thankyou so much for welcoming me.
I haven’t spoken or met anyone that has had the same as me until being on here, I live rural so I’ve gone through this myself with the help of family and friends.
im so glad for any advice going forward
Thanks again x
Hi Muzzie,
Glad you are on the forum! I'm a little over a year post treatment and have some lingering issues--I think we all reach a new normal of some sort. Please don't hesitate to ask any question you have. This forum is an enormous source of support and information! Xo
Thankyou
I do have a question, I’m struggling at the moment with pain and fissures when opening Bowles any advice to easy the pain would be appreciated I have been prescribed a gel and instagel but just wondering if anyone has any other ideas.xx
Hello Muzzie
You may not feel it at the moment but six months is still early days, I know recovery seems to take forever.
Painful bowel movements, especially with fissures are really unpleasant, the gel and instagel should help, but I am wondering if you ensure that your stools are very soft? A hard poo was enough to make me bleed, this didn't happen often as I take Laxido every day, even now, although I had an elective stoma a couple of years ago. Laxido isn't as harsh as some laxatives and my doctor is quite happy to prescribe them to me on a regular basis.
I am hoping you get some more suggestions that will give you some relief.
Irene xx
