I'm three weeks completed 28 days of chemoradiation - got through it- and I have my oncology nurse first follow up next week, but my question is surrounding a growth on my upper arm. Its been there for probably nearly 10years and I have been told in the passing by docs that it's juat a cist, but just prior to treatment start it seemed to change a little, become a bit more red around the edges and now the last few days it is getting noticeably sore in the area - but im sore and aching all over! My brain is in fast mode now, should I wait until appointment with nurse and team in hospital or would I have to get it checked by GP first.
Delays in diagnosis of my anal cancer and its very fast growth tipped me over from no lymph to local invasion. I wouldn't want any delays on anything else suspicious. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi Forestflower , firstly congratulations on completing your treatment, it’s good to say it’s done isn’t it?
Just for your own peace of mind I would see your GP, you’ll likely drive yourself mad with worry if you wait for your check-up next week. My friend has a cyst on her upper arm, she had a small one removed a few years ago but it’s returned & attached to her muscle now & is causing her a lot of aggravation, she’s just waiting on an appointment to get it removed. You can always still run it past your team next week also.

Thank you for the reassurance, it's all a bit overwhelming - getting on with life but being on edge about every little wee symptom that crops up!
Hello Forestflower
We all have empathy with someone on here whose imagination goes into overdrive with any and every symptom after treatment; we have all been through it, and if the truth be told, still go through it to some degree even years afterwards. I say this not to worry you but to say that your anxiety is normal and not in the least surprising given what you have been through.
As already suggested, I would get this cyst checked out. Not that I think that there is anything wrong, but my own GP told me that they have a very low bar before referring me for further investigations if I have anything wrong that they can't immediately identify. This will put your mind at rest and meantime you can get on with the business of recovery.
I do hope you will be reassured, please let us know what happens.
Big hug
Irene xx
Hi I had some very painful red lumps that were under the skin down below. It took about 2 weeks for them to pop. I did go to the gp who said it was part of the treatment. I also got one on my left breast when was so painful. I ended up on antibiotics and also a cream as it was so red and sore. The gp said they were in the middle of a boil and cyst. Hope it improves soon for you
