Hello - This situation is very rare from what I've read so I'm hoping to gain some knowledge/feedback from this group. I haven't told a sole about my cancer, this time around. I need strength & knowledge not questions and sympathy so my family/friends are on a need to know basis. I'm relying on this group for knowledge, experience and information. You all helped me so much the first time around and you were all so amazing!

My chemoradiation for anal cancer ended March of 2023. This last MRI and PET show a 1.2cm lesion on my sacrum. The word "metastasized" never came up with colorectal surgeon nor medical oncologist. In my file notes my med onc wrote "Unfortunately, MRI shows ..." and colorectal was concerned. PET was ordered/completed and my follow-up is tomorrow with the medical oncologist. Tumor Board meeting is this coming Tuesday.

Has anyone had their SCAC metastasize to their sacrum?

  • Hello

This must be such a blow after more than two years clear, I am so sorry to hear this.  I can't remember seeing another forum member posting about spread to the sacrum, but perhaps there has been but before my time.  I am hoping that if so they will pick up on your post and can help with information and the likely treatment.

I can completely understand you wanting to keep this to yourself until you know more; people are well-meaning but not always if you are fishing in the dark yourself.

If the meeting is this Thursday then hopefully you won't have to wait too long before you have more details and a treatment plan.  Please come back and let us know how you get on.

  • Thank you so much for your reply!

  • Hi  ,

I’m really sorry to hear your news, it must have come as such a shock as I, like many others, was told that the chances of a recurrence after 2 years drop dramatically.

Like you I kept my diagnosis very private for exactly the same reasons that you give in this post. I don’t do well with sympathy etc.

Hopefully you’ll be given a more comprehensive explanation from your medical oncologist tomorrow & a plan can be made moving forward.

I hope if there’s anyone on the forum with any experience of a similar diagnosis they will see your post & respond.

    Please keep us updated.

    Nicola
