Hi lovely people

I'm 3 months post treatment and the pain and pressure down below has come back with a vengeance..

I know i have read that pelvic radiotherapy can cause this.. has anyone else experienced this?

I'm seeing oncologist on 3rd June for my 3 month scan results so will raise this with him also..

Xx

  • Hi Squeak,

I’m sure that 3rd June feels like a long way away right now. Could you give your team a call and explain your pain to them? Maybe they could see you sooner?

Really distressing to feel that you’re moving forward only to take a step backwards. I’m sorry that you’re going through this.

Do keep us posted and hope you get some help and answers.

    xx

  • Hi

To be honest other that having my routine 3 week and then 6 week check up I have had no contact with any medical team a hospital.. I wouldn't even know who to speak to.. my gp doesn't really know much about AC..

My oncologist on holiday next week so probably have to wait until 3rd.. which seems like a lifetime away ha xx

  • Squeak, I am so sorry you have this hanging over you and can totally understand why you are upset.  Yes, keep us all posted, we are all thinking of you. xx

  • Hello PEB24...may I ask..the pain you describe...does it radiate to your knee? My husband has a scan that revealed a crumbling vertebrae. Since, he has had unbelievable hip / knee pain, that culminated yesterday in us going to a&e. He was literally sobbing in pain. I'm wondering if it is connected.

    Sorry, just thinking aloud!

  • Hiya.

It starts in what feels like my pelvis and radiates down through my vagina and buttocks and the down my left leg into my toe next to my big toe....its an awful pain.. this is what started me off nearly 2 years ago trying to get a diagnosis..

Fist off I thought it was gynolgical..but thats all checked out and clear.. then was passed over to colerectal where I was eventually diagnosed ..

I know how he feels I was in tears yestetday with the pain.. the oramorph did nothing to ease it xx

  • YES! My husband was given morphine for 5 minutes through cannula and syringe in his arm but it wore off in under an hour. He was sobbing in pain and the shaking...his whole body looked like it was being given an electrical shock! Sorry to read your situation Squeak x

  • I'm also not convinced of the effectiveness of oramorph... I'm on slow release zomorph twice daily, with the oramorph as and when as a top up, but if it does help, it's very short lived Slight frown xx

  • Hi Squeak,

It sounds awful and I’m sorry that you are in limbo not knowing where to turn.
As this started after your 3 month scan it sounds like you need another scan to help determine what’s going on. It’s just awful waiting and wondering.

Like you I am working and I completely understand how hard it is to hold it together when you are in pain and unable to sleep due to the pain. It’s also incredibly hard to either be in pain or to take painkillers and function effectively at work.

When I started suddenly to experience the intense pain just when I was getting so much better I contacted the MacMillan nurse ( after 2 weeks pain and very little sleep) and they discussed with Oncology and sent me to the hospital.

I really feel for you and really hope that you can access some help before your appointment. Xx

  • Hello B2theC,

I am so very sorry that your husband is going through this and it must have been very distressing for both of you. I hope very much that something was found to alleviate his pain and make him more comfortable.
I do seem to have some spinal problems but this only happened after the radiation or at least I wasn’t aware of them before as had always been active and considered myself fit and well.

I sadly have no advice or answers but I really hope that your husband has been able to access some help other than the morphine. xx

  • Thank you Peb24. We've booked a private MRI for tomorrow, as I want to get my fella sorted and the Dr at the hospital just gave him codine and sent us away. My husband LITERALLY took two baby steps at a time to get out of the hospital, with the aid of a walking stick. Currently taking codine dose, then few hours later, paracetamol, repeat. I really do feel for every person that is currently going through pain. Bodies are fantastic machines but also bloody awful at times! xx
