The last couple of days I’ve been unable to go to the loo, I’ve taken a stool softener, eaten kiwis and drank loads of water and herbal tea and sat in a warm bath. My bum feels really achy and sore and I’m very uncomfortable. I’m guessing the tumor is blocking and preventing me from going. Should I buy some laxatives? I haven’t started my treatment yet.
Hello Mix
I would get in touch with you treating team first thing tomorrow to see what they suggest. Not being able to pass stools is extremely uncomfortable and upsetting and whilst it may well be constipation I would be guessing. They will be able to advise correctly on the steps you should take and may even call you in for a quick examination to see what is going on.
I am so sorry you are having to cope with this and hope that something does coax your bowels into action in the meantime. Please let us know how you are.
Big hug, Mix
Irene xx
Hi Mix,
I echo what Irene says. Check in with your medical team, and hopefully it is just constipation. Thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way. xx
Hi Mix ,
I really feel for you, I know first hand how uncomfortable this can be, sometimes I felt like I was sitting on a pile of rocks!
I too would advise contacting your treating team & see what they advise just incase it is a blockage rather than constipation.
Have you just taken one stool softener? I was advised I could take more if my constipation was bad (I suffered from constipation throughout treatment & recovery). One day I took 4 on the advice of an A&E Dr, 2 in the morning & 2 in the evening, they definitely worked but the next day really wasn’t pretty & I spent most of the morning in the loo & the rest of the day exhausted on the sofa, I wouldn’t advise doing this though unless advised by a professional.
I hope this is just a case of constipation for you & you find some relief soon. Please let us know how you get on.
Nicola
