Hi all, well finally the day has come when I start my treatment which is tomorrow. Funny that I feel so well, no pain etc, just normal. I have found loads of information from reading all your posts, some good and some a bit frightening. Pain just isn’t nice is it? But I know it’s not for ever and pray I don’t suffer too many side effects. If any of you remember my previous posts asking if anyone had used a particular product as I was thinking of purchasing it and I also asked my oncologist who was going to investigate but the following few days I was told she went on emergency leave so I think nothing was done about finding out if I could use it. Anyway I decided to buy it and when I go tomorrow I will ask if they will support my decision to use it. Many of you on here have said the weeks seems to pass quickly so that is good. I will probably be back on here with questions as the days go along. Thank you all. Xx
Hi Jaycee12 I just wanted to wish you all the best for tomorrow. You will be surprised how quickly the time passes. I was expecting to be writhing around in pain but wasn't. Paracetamol, ibuprofen and occasionally co-codamol did the trick but be careful with the latter two as they can cause constipation. Like you, I didn't feel ill at all, I just had itching and pain at the rear end but apart from that felt very healthy, which is a positive thing. Please do come back on with any queries or for support, remember nothing is too personal to ask! Bev x
Hi Jaycee12,
All the very best of luck for tomorrow & the rest of you treatment. I too felt well, I’d had my tumour removed surgically but had the chemoradiotherapy as a small portion of my tumour only had a 1mm clear margin which is cut off point for further treatment. It’s great that you’re going into this in good shape. As Bev has said I also managed on paracetamol & ibuprofen throughout my treatment as any opiate based pain relief caused me constipation, I found these & lots of cream sufficed. Hopefully like lots of us you’ll find the weeks fly by & you’ll be through the other side before you know it. If you need any support we’re always here.

Hi My treatment went very well and the staff were brilliant. My chemo nurse was lovely and said he would sit with me whilst I was having chemo and explain medication and what I could expect. He even took his mask down but he was wearing his visor as I lip read. That part with the tablets you take extra to the chemo tablets was at first a worry as I wanted to get it right. They just say if you have any worries then just call them. After my radiotherapy session I had to go back as I still had a question about a particular tablet dosage. The young radiotherapy nurse was talking to me through a visor that was increasingly becoming fogged up and we couldn’t see each other and rolled up laughing. I have not had any nausea yet but just a little tummy pain which may be wind. Now day two to go. As your time draws near if you are like me and start to become anxious I found talking to Macmillan online very good too, to put your worries in perspective. Take this time to get things you may need to help make treatment and healing more comfortable. From reading on here I have equipped myself with a sitz bath, squeeze bottle, protective mattress cover, long soft cotton nighties to lounge in, lots of creams and very soft micro fibre flannels. There may be other things that people on here can recommend on top of this. Take care. X
