Hi everyone,
I have only posted once since my journey began. Happy to say i got the all clear and VERY slowly i can see improvement, however, still struggling with pain. My anus and vagina still feel inflamaed (this was noted in my mri results) In the morning after going to the bathroom it still burn for a couple of hours. Also my first pee of the morning burns also. It is wayyyy better than it was , however, anyone know how much longer i can expect this to go on ? For the vetrens out there " does it eventually go away ". As you all know the most frustrating part of recovery has been that there is no consistency so its hard to see progress. And it often feels like there is no end in sight. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again and best wishes to all
Thank you. Im going to do urine test today. Still very burns after i poop also. Think thats the inflammation. How many years are you out of treatment?
Four years (and counting!) in March. Poos did became more comfortable, at the time you think they never will but eventually the back passage settles down a bit x
Hi Bungle ,
Im a year post treatment now , with all clear . Although I’m sorry you’re still having a few issues , I found your comment reassuring as I’m also having these symptoms .
Was starting to worry a bit about the bleeding , and the farting gets a bit embarrassing especially in work .
I suppose it all takes time to heal . Doesn’t matter what I eat ,I’m always windy
keep well and Happy New Year.

I am quite farty when I get up. My theory is that before AC I must have just gently farted my way through my sleep; now my bottom is narrow and scarred, the air can't get out and when I get up there is a bit of activity and movement...and there we go.
It’s the only way! All my close people understand and say’ There she blows’ A sense of humour is the only way ! I’m 12 months post treatment.
Happy hopeful New Year to all

A bit of a belated reply from me sorry Merida46fbbb , even now at over 7 years out from treatment my skin still gets irritated & I can still get that burn when going to the loo, I find I can only wash with a simple aqueous type cream, I use aquamax & have recently had it put back on repeat prescription by my GP due to my pharmacy being a bit flaky at ordering it in for me to buy. I literally can’t use even unperfumed products in the area that was affected by the radiotherapy, it causes irritation almost straight away & I end up using sudocrem for the next few days. I would give it a try just washing with nothing but an aqueous cream after, as has already been suggested, ruling out water infections etc., & moisturise the new skin too, probably best to use the same aqueous cream as a moisturiser. Sometimes recovery is a little like taking 3 steps forward & 2 steps back, you will find that bowel movements will gradually get easier over time & hopefully the burning with urination will soon subside too.
I hope you find some relief soon.
Nicola
