Hi all. Hope you’re doing ok.
just wanted to ask if feeling tired is normal before any treatment. For the past week I have felt like body tiredness and doing hoovering and other things. Also lost appetite. Which mine wasn’t great to start with as I’m not really a food person. I do eat but just nibble more. Thanks
I would have said it's normal. I felt tired before diagnosis but just assumed i wasn't going to bed early enough but now know it was the cancer. I think once diagnosed and leading up to treatment its normal to feel tired from all the emotional and mental side that goes with a cancer diagnosis. Sending hugs. Xx
Hello Michelle
I struggle to give a really accurate answer on this - I was 70 when diagnosed and prior to treatment I was feeling more tired than normal but put it down to aging (although I have always been extremely active). Once I knew there was something seriously wrong the tiredness continued because of extremely high stress levels and the multiple testing that was going on.
If you don't feel like eating, I would carry on nibbling - it certainly won't do you any harm in the midst of what you are going through right now.
Irene xx
Hi Michelle,
Im sorry you’re feeling so tired. I think that this is normal and remember feeling that I had no energy prior to starting treatment. I also lost weight.
I don’t know but assume that the body’s resources are directed towards fighting the cancer. All the tests and anxiety take a toll too. Are your bloods being checked? They will be checked just before treatment and weekly during treatment, but it might be helpful to have them screened now, given how you are feeling.
I had low haemoglobin due to bleeding and some sort of infection. Just a thought. I hope your start date is coming up soon. Xx
Hi Michelle I can remember being very tired before treatment and think it was due to the stress and anxiety of everything and your quality of sleep is affected. This also could be why you have lost your appetite. Just fill the day with nourishing soups or milky drinks and not junk food. Remember you are feeding your healing and once treatment starts you will get tired but you get into your own little routine of coping
