So I had my pet/ct scan on Friday
I have my first appointment at Christie’s tomorrow morning and am mri scan on 27th April
still in a lot of pain with my bum cheek and I think the area has got bigger it feels like an actual hole
not sure how I feel about tomorrow, I don’t feel worried -I don’t feel anything really , I’m beginning to think there is something wrong with my mind as had no reaction to anything, wasn’t shocked when I got result , no worries about scans or the appointment tomorrow
Is this normal ?
Hi Poohbear I am by no means an expert on the brain but to me your reaction actually sounds quite normal. Everything happens so quickly from the point of diagnosis that our brains can go into shock and take time to process but also go into self preservation mode. I suppose everyone’s reaction is different and depends on the type of hormones that are released in the brain as to how we respond. I wouldn’t worry about your initial emotions but ensure that you have the right people to talk to about it. You can always chat to some at Macmillan or a health provider. All the best for your appointment tomorrow Becs xx
Thank you @becu86 I have spoken to the Macmillan people , I think what your saying is right about self preservation, so much has happened in the last 12 months that I’ve not really grieved or dealt with this is just something else to ‘file for another time ‘
I will try and speak to Macmillan again and see if I can offload what I’m not saying to anyone else x
So I had my appointment, no decision on treatment starting as still waiting for mri scan - consultant not happy as she asked for it about 2 weeks ago
went through the treatment and what it will involve , radiotherapy and chemotherapy, side effects etc
reassured me about pain relief and have me some ‘ nerve blocking ‘ tablets so today had been a better day pain wise
trying to get my scan brought forward - not due till 27 th april So they can plan the treatment
also had a heart rate monitor done and bloods taken
had a walk down to ‘Maggie ‘ after and had a chat with a lady there , think hubby felt a bit better after as it put his mind a little at ease xx
Hi Poohbear,
Thats great that things are moving, hopefully they’ll get your scan brought forward & you can get going with your treatment. It’s good that you’ve something a little more adequate to get your pain under control. The Maggies centres are fantastic places, a great source of information & they run lots of lovely courses at ours too, from therapy courses to beauty etc.
