Just joined and trying to get guidance on travel insurance.
Breast cancer lumpectomy last October, Radiotheraphy early December then Chemo Dec-April.
NOW on Letrozole , Ribicyclib and Apixaban.
If there’s anyone who has been in a similar position it would be super to hear from you regarding Travel Insurance options.
currently quoted £1500 for ONE WEEK.

Am hoping I am not alone in this predicament

  • Hi

I have metastatic breast cancer and have been using an annual policy from Insurancewith for a number of years. I renewed last week for just over £250 (joint policy with husband). I can travel as often as I want for up to 31 days at a time. Currently I have limited the policy to Europe but it didn’t cost me a lot more to extend it to rest of world excluding the Americas when I wanted to travel to Asia a couple of years ago. The cancellation cover isn’t great but I tend to book at short notice when I can be confident of travelling. I am more concerned about having adequate cover when out there. They do have a complex questionnaire to complete but the person who founded the company set it up when she was having difficulty getting affordable cover after breast cancer. They have a sister search engine Albert&Eddie which perhaps looks wider than their own policies, but searching through it always brings me back to their own policies.

  • Hello ,

I'd suggest you do try Albert & Eddie https://www.albertandeddie.co.uk/ as they are a part of a group that owns other travel insurers and you should receive quotes from these plus possible other non-group insurers.

When I used them I received quotes from group members Insurancewith and Holiday Safe, and the latter cost less despite having the same policy wording.

You could also check Lighthouse Travel Insurance https://www.lighthousetravelinsurance.co.uk/. I haven't any experience of them but Macmillan recently partnered with them.

If you have any problems or doubts answering their health etc. questions I suggest you always give them a call to ensure you answer correctly in case you're unfortunate to have to make a claim later.

I do hope you can get sorted and off on holiday.

    Derek.
