Be wary planning trips too long in advance of travel when living with cancer

We had planned the trip of a lifetime for our family. My partner has a cancer diagnosis but has been stable for last 2 years. Unfortunately his latest scans showed some changes although treatment will remain the same. When I informed the insurance company (insurancewith) they said that he is now uninsurable. Looks like we will have to cancel the trip but hopefully can claim on the insurance we had. I just wanted to warn others about this. It’s so disappointing. My partners prognosis is still good but I will def not plan trips far in advance again. I thought the insurance company would be able to add any changes for an extra cost. Never dreamed they would say he is now uninsurable. We are trying other companies but no luck yet.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your partner's latest scans show some changes to his cancer and, as a result, your existing travel insurance provider will no longer offer cover.

Unfortunately, it's definitely trickier getting cover when a cancer diagnosis is involved. have you had chance to look through the threads 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' yet, as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance within them.

I do hope you can get cover so that your planned trip of a lifetime with your family can go ahead.
