Travel insurance

Hi BFAeee28e, I’m Tony one of the Community Champions, you haven’t said if it’s North or South Ireland as for obvious reasons the health care is different in both parts

North- you would be under NHS care so just ensure you take any information regarding your Cancer and treatment but health Insurance wouldn’t be necessary for treatment

South- Then you will first best have an EU medical treatment card and insurance, I found Insurewith

Was very helpful and make sure you call them – any Insurance Company you approach it’s best calling and not completing an online application, my advise also is either way you should inform your present Insurance Co as with all Health/Travel Insurance you would be unable to claim

Thank you its southern Ireland i want to head to, I will check with insurance with, i have an Ehic card so thats good.

Do check the date on your EHIC. You may need to apply for a GHIC if it’s expired.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to get travel insurance after a cancer diagnosis.

If your present insurer won't cover you then take a look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads here, as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance.

It's always a good idea to take an EHIC/GHIC card with you when you go abroad but remember that it's not a replacement for travel insurance but an addition.
