Hi all very new to all this husband has just started chemo for locally advanced pancreatic cancer not able to operate due to it being near a main vein but having chemo to slow it down maybe shrink it he is not ill and never has been it was an accidental find. We have a holiday booked for Egypt at the end of September. And cancer team have said he can go they will work chemo treatments around him. But I can’t get travel insurance except 1 company that would insure us at a cost of £2000 have any other cancer patients had holiday insurance whilst being treated with chemo and any recommendations on who to use and do you recommend phoning up and speaking to insurance companies many thanks

  • Hi Mary7678 welcome to the forum..I saw a post asking about travel insurance through the week and the general advice was to have a look through the travel insurance threads to see what companies others have found helpful. It is vital to be completely honest and upfront with insurance companies as someone had a woeful tale to tell of not being totally open and things gone wrong. It's also in the travel thread to have a read. Hope you manage to get something sorted up to enable you to have im sure a much needed break..Best wishes Gail

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.

Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? If not, it's best to go through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes.

You may find it easier to speak to the insurance companies when getting quotes because you'll then be certain that you're answering their questions correctly.

  • Hi Mary,

I have just managed to get insurance for my husband who is having immunotherapy every 6 weeks.

I have been looking for a while with high quotes or wont insure but looking through the posts on here I tried Holidaysafe and Insurewith think they are the same company going through the quote they said I would need referred to medical team and I set up a call back.

During the call back I was asked bit more information and it was forwarded to the medical team who then sent me a quote for £450 I couldn't believe it there was a few errors so emailed back and they got aamended and didn't effect the price quoted so very happy Blush

We are only going to Cyprus but would definitely try them Thumbsup
