Motorcycle trip to Europe

Hi all,

I have been planning a 2wk motorcycle ride to France & Spain this September before getting diagnosed with breast cancer November last year. I have now been through 6mnth IV chemo, a mastectomy, full lymph node clearance, further surgery to extract another lymph node. Starting 3wk radiation and 6cycles (21days x2aday) of Capecitabine chemo tablet form. This all meant I will still not have fully gone through the treatment when away. My oncologist is aware of the trip and is planning treatment around my trip. She has no issue in principle that I undertake this ride abroad as long as I have travel insurance.

can anyone offer some advice as to where I can start and what I’d need to consider please? Bearing in mind I would be riding my own motorcycle. Is anyone else in a similar situation and managed to find a cover?

thank you ahead of any replies x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to get travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.

Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? If not, it's best to go through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes. Although the recommendations won't be specifically for people who are travelling on a motorcycle, there are plenty of companies to try.

I assume you would need breakdown cover for your motorcycle in place as well.
