Hi everyone,

I am trying to get insurance for my husband for Cyprus for a week,  he is is 55 with stage 4 lung cancer and doing well over a year down the line on immunotherapy.

I had a quote from Inurewith about £300 which was great but after his recent scan there was a slight increase and now they won't cover him I called them and they said algorithm had been updated.

I have tried a few from recommendations on here but some no cover and some around £1800 that is more than our holiday.

I just wondered if anyone had any recent recommendations or is there anyone I can ask to help complete the forms as I really do worry that I complete and pay a fortune and if we need to claim it's invalid due to me answering questions wrong!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.

I know you mentioned that you've tried some of the recommendations in the group but have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? If not, it's best to go through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes.

When I first applied for insurance after finishing my treatment I phoned the various insurers so that there was no chance I could misinterpret the questions being asked. This might be a good idea for you so that you can be confident of answering questions correctly.

  • Hiya,  Thanks for your response,

I got a insurance list from Maggies and also from the money helper directory online just so many to go through! The threads on here have been helpful

I have managed to get a couple of quotes for around £600 so that's better not sure if that is a good price to pay but certainly the lowest so far that's from Fit4travel & one through Brunel - aneemo. I also am waiting on call back from a broker and medical team call back from Hoilday Safe so will see how I get on Blush

  • Hiya,

I got a call back from Holiday Safe/ Insurancewith and answered all the questions and then it  was referred to the medical team.  They then sent me a detailed medical declaration and the price was £450 the week I had to email back with few errors and extras that I had forgot to mention and it was amend but the price remained the same.

We are so happy with that Sunglasses

  • That's great to read  and I hope you and your husband have a lovely time in Cyprus.
