Hi Everyone

I had Throat Cancer left tongue base squamous Cell Carcinoma 16 positive and had all the relevant treatment finished 10th September and have been told by my Oncologist after my Petscan etc that there is no sign of Cancer anymore and the treatment has been successful and now have to go through the checkup time frames up to 5 years.

I would like some advise on insurers that will be able to cover me etc.

Are we looking at really stupid money and has anyone not been able to get insurance

As mentioned I have been given the all clear

Much appreciated Sarah

  • Hi, have you tried "good to go" travel insurance. I've used them twice now, due to pre-existing conditions and they are very reasonable.

However I haven't had any quotes since my breast cancer diagnosis (surgery due later this month), but had already booked for France in September, so that will be interesting re cover/price, as long as I am OK to go.

  • Hi Sarah/

and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to get reasonably priced travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.

Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? If not, have a look through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes.

I do hope you can get some reasonably priced insurance and have some lovely holidays.

  • You might try insurancewith who specialise in cover for cancer. Another is albert&eddie which is owned by the same company that owns insurancewith and is a comparison site comparing prices from several companies all owned by the same holding company.

I had lung cancer in 2014 (no recurrence to date) then prostate cancer in 2016 which recurred early 2024 prompting chemo plus indfinite HT treatment and obtained annual worldwide cover for my wife and I via albert&eddie at a good cost.

    They're definitely worth a try.
