Good morning
long story short, 2 holidays booked August 2024 for 2025 ..had annual family travel policy in place. diagnosed with breast cancer December 24, rang insurance company who promptly cancelled my policy !!!!!! due to me having cancer... BUT they will pray for me !
Roll forward to today, had lumpectomy, & sentinal node removal, cancer was in 1st lymph node not 2nd, and all removed. I am now Cancer free according to my Surgeon, just awaiting radiotherapy which cannot happen until wound heals
Been told am able to go on my holiday booked for March ( hooray!) only to Lanzarote for 1 week.
Where do I start with travel insurance, am obviously going to do a single policy for me, and am I right to assume I can say cancer free awaiting radiotherapy
I am on Letrozole ( or will be ) and that is is.
All advice welcome, cannot believe how you are made to feel as soon as you mention the "C" word
Thanks for listening :-)
After surgery and radiotherapy then starting letrozole I got cover from Staysure. The questions they ask will require you to declare you’re awaiting treatment (radiotherapy). I also had a “fit to fly” letter from my oncologist although I wasn’t asked for it.
Staysure is one of the companies on the list provided by Macmillan.
I took out an annual policy covering me and my husband. A policy covering both of us was important because if we needed to cancel because of my cancer my husband wouldn’t have been able to claim from the policy we had prior to my diagnosis.
Hi Threelittlebirds and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
Unfortunately, as have found, it can be more difficult to get travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.
Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? If not, it's best to go through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes.
After my breast cancer treatment had been completed I got insurance with goodtogoinsurance.com
Wishing you all the best
