Been quoted £1900 for an 8 day cruise, with All Clear insurance company. Can anyone recommend any other companies we could try please, as this is on the high side! TIA.

  • Hi, we had high quotes and tried our bank, Nationwide. We needed worldwide annual insurance including the USA. Completed questionaire on line then had to be screened. Lady asked more questions and we was excepted but had to pay £48 supplement for my husbands blood pressure and if we want to add a cruise it would be an additional one off payment of £40 but that would be prorated on how many months would be left on the policy. So we pay £13 per month (increasing in December to £18 per month) and also included is breakdown cover and cover for phones, iPads and laptops.  I had vulva cancer in 2022 and there was no additional charges for this.  Hope this helps.

  • Trying your bank to see if they will cover is a great first call.

i have seen several members get cover via their Nationwide plus account but would point out that they don’t automatically cover you. £40 seems to be the standard addition for high blood pressure (husband was charged this) but they refused cover for me. Not an option to pay an additional premium, just absolutely refusal.

I have a stable grade 2 brain tumour for which I’m scanned twice a year. Last surgery was about 8 years ago, no treatment planned, no drugs needed but also no insurance cover offered, even at a premium.

I am notsure how they medically screen these policies but it’s obviously different from buying direct.
The Nationwide account was cost effective when it came out but it’s now cheaper to buy our insurance elsewhere (other banks give the card use abroad for free). Like all things, it’s worth shopping around to see who provides the best cover your your individual circumstances.

    Good luck.

  • Hi

Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' threads yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there?

It's probably best to go through them and make a list before settling down to get quotes.

I do hope you can get insurance so that you can book your cruise.
