Hi everyone,
We have received some feedback that you would like a more recent recommended travel insurance thread set up.
The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.
Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.
This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.
If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.

Most insurance companies use the same algorithm to decide whether they will cover you. It’s called Verisk. They ask the same questions. The ones who don’t use that algorithm & do in-house screening or use Protectif are
We were looking for an annual policy - very difficult & too expensive.
Don’t do the questionnaire online - make sure you phone them.
Thanks. Yes I kept getting a bit of deja vu whilst completing the Questionnaires as they were asking exactly the same questions.
Thanks for the 'heads up'. I'll have a look at the four you've recommended and shall keep my fingers tightly crossed that I can get cover for her at a -reasonable' price.
Still feeling very frustrated. No Online quotes due to my mum's age and multiple myeloma. It's as if the travel insurance is more or less telling her to stay at home. I know that it was advised not to travel uninsured but due to my mum's advanced age (she's 91) this could be the final time we actually go on holiday together. I just want to generate good memories with my mum whilst we still can. Part of me is thinking to risk taking her uninsured and to put some money away in saving 'just in case'. I know it's far from advisable but it's as if no one is willing to insure her. All we want is for both of us to go on a cruise because that is what she really wants to do - that's all.
Hi Prue8
My experience of phoning insurance companies is that there's no pressure to buy there and then. The big advantage is that you can explain exactly what the diagnosis is so you'll be sure you'll get the correct quote.
OK, I'll give a few of them a call tomorrow. Just tried : 'Payingtoomuch' but it was the usual '...we have found 0 policies for you' this is despite me adding myself as the lead traveller with no medical conditions.
Hi Prue can l just share my experience so you don’t get too downhearted. Trying to get cruise insurance for my sister was a nightmare but eventually l got two weeks cover with AllClear at the astronomical price of £1300 . On returning home l suggested that we try the same company for an annual policy,
would you believe it the policy came out at less than the two week price ! Apparently one of her medications is not classed as a strong pain killer which l believed it did so it pays to speak direct to the company. Really hope you get to cruise with your Mum. Best of luck
