Travel Insurance

Hello,

I am trying to get travel insurance. I have breast cancer which has spread.  The consultant has said that although it is not curable, it is treatable. I started chemo 6 months ago and it seems to be working as at my first scan the size of the two tumours had reduced and at the second recent scan the consultant told me that my condition was stable.

When I complete the travel quotes on the specialist insurance sites suggested, one of the questions is whether the condition has a terminal prognosis.  I have filled this in as a 'Yes' as the consultant has said it is not curable, but when I do so I am refused insurance.  I have seen that other people who are in a similar position to me have been able to obtain travel insurance so I wondered if I am interpreting this question correctly?

I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest how I should proceed in these circumstances.  Thank you.

  • I think from you say you do not have a terminal prognosis and could answer "no" to the terminal question. However, to be absolutely sure I would suggest you either ask your consultant to confirm you're not terminal or 'phone insurers for quotes so you can explain your condition and let them conclude it's not terminal.

I hope you can get fixed up with the cover you need.

Made in 1956. Tested to destruction.
  • Hello Seeker

I replied to a question about a month ago regarding the use of the phrases 'terminal' and 'incurable'. I'm finding this site less and less user friendly and it took me a while to find the reply. Hopefully I've managed to add a link here. If not then you'll have to scroll through previous questions/answers to about 4 weeks ago. I think the original question was' I need some help'.
