Have just joined the group and added my profile, as Glasgow Bill, that details my cancer situation. I have a cruise planned for my wife and myself in July going to Norway, Iceland and the Shetland Isles. The search is on for suitable travel insurance - does anyone have any recommendations before I work my way through the companies listed on the BIBA website?

  • Hi

Unfortunately it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis.

I don't know if you've had chance to look through the recommended travel insurance thread yet, as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are. If not, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. You might also want to look at this thread as it includes a link to a Travel Insurance Directory.

Most people here have found that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

Do come back and let us know how you get on

  • Hi we had a good experience getting travel insurance for both a skiing holiday in Austria and a short break in France with Saga and other people found InsureWith very good as well. It’s very variable depending on your personal situation - we had quotes ranging from £780 to £204 for a one week skiing holiday! All you can do is phone a few and see what they can offer (and sadly it took about 30 mins to get through to most of them as they’re so busy!!).
