I went through surgery for breast cancer in April 2020 and followed with chemo and radiotherapy.  I have a holiday booked in May 22 to Florida with my family.  The travel insurance quotes are ridiculous. My surgery was successful and I don't need further treatment so why are the prices so high??!! The lowest quote is £450.  Can anyone recommend a company? Thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

A trip to Florida sounds wonderful but, as you've found, getting reasonably priced travel insurance can be difficult when you've had a cancer diagnosis.

I don't know if you've had chance to look through the recommended travel insurance thread yet, as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are. If not, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. You might also want to look at this thread as it includes a link to a Travel Insurance Directory.

Most people here say that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

I do hope that you can find some reasonably priced travel insurance.

Do come back and let us know how you get on

  • Hi Bella0707 don't know if you got something sorted but I got my insurance with AllClear and if you are two years from treatment cancer doesn't impact on costs. My treatment only finished 5 months ago so it did impact but the sales person said 2 years in and they don't count it. Worth a call anyway?
