We have booked a skiing holiday in Italy for 1 week .
My husband is currently fighting 2ndy liver cancer and is currently On lonsurf chemo tablets.
He currently feels well enough to go but quotes so far for 1 weeks travel insurance are astronomical .
Does anyone have any suggestions who to try?
thank you
Hi Kingswear
A skiing holiday in Italy sounds fabulous and I do hope that you can get travel insurance to cover your husband. Unfortunately, as you have found, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis.
I don't know if you've had chance to look through the recommended travel insurance thread yet, as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are. If not, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. You might also want to look at this thread as it includes a link to a Travel Insurance Directory.
Lots of people here recommend that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
Make sure that you have all the information to hand about your diagnosis and treatment before contacting the insurers. This is a list of things an insurance provider might want to know when you're applying for insurance. Some providers might ask for a letter from your doctor saying that you are well enough to travel. This could come from your cancer team or GP.
Do come back and let us know how you get on

Hi - Try https://www.insurancewith.com/ recommended on the cancer research uk (uk cancer chat) forum. It's a company owned by someone who had cancer. I can't verify it myself, but More screening questions, apparently but realistic premiums.
I am also looking for insurance for a Cruise, getting silly quotes in from some of those on the "recommended" page, seems like a lot use the same verification.
I had a long conversation with Inusrecancer.com, they are the only ones that have provided reassurance and know about all the cancer drugs and symptoms. They advised I call them back 4-5 weeks prior to holiday, as a lot will not chance insuring months in advance. But hoping to get the quote down to £300-400
