Can't Find Travel Insurance

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help!  I have always used Insurancewith for my travel insurance, but I have just been trying to buy a weeks cover for Spain in August and they aren't selling new policies at the moment.

I went through the signposting service on the Money & Pension Advice Service, as recommended to help me find travel insurance and everyone turned me down for a quote other than All Clear, but they wanted over £400 for a weeks cover and then tried to pressure me into buying it saying it was a today only price and the price could go up if I called back tomorrow.  I felt so upset and pressured, Insurancewith quoted me under £100 for the same over at the beginning of the month, I wish I had taken that out then, but we hadn't had our holiday confirmed until this week, not it looks like I can't afford to go now, with the cost of the insurance and PCR tests etc.  I have metastatic cancer, but my tumors are stable, why is it so difficult to get a reasonable quote?  I hope Insurancewith start to sell policies again soon, or it looks like I won't be getting away anytime soon.

Any advice greatfully received

Thank you, that's given me some hope for a 2nd attempt tomorrow.  And hopefully a more affordable quote.

  • Good luck with All Clear! I hope you get on better than I did Fingers crossed

    • My husband is in a similar situation. Insurance with have always been great. Insured for Caribbean Cruise and skiing trip when no one else would. Went on last week for hopeful trip to Vegas in October to find no new policies being quoted. Our understanding is they are having problems issues with the underwriters along with Boots and other specialist insurers, nothing to do with Covid. I will keep trying and let you know if we have any joy. My husband is stage 4 metastatic but stable neuroendocrine. Insurance with did say they hope to be able to quote again in the next few weeks. Not sure when in august you are travelling. Please keep us posted.

I would really appreciate if anyone has managed to purchase travel insurance in the last few days and can provide information.  I have been searching online for several hours today and not able to find any quotes.  My Mum has incurable non-small cell lung cancer.  Her condition has stabilised after taking tyrosine kinase inhibitor so I would like to take the opportunity to take her on a special trip to Switzerland in September.  I am worried about not being able to purchase travel insurance and would hate for that to be the reason to not go on the trip.  We were supposed to go in 2020 and I have already paid for the trip.  If we don’t go we will have to forfeit most of the money and probably won’t be able to afford to go there another time.  Thank you!

  • Hi, I spent hours on the phone today trying to get a quote for a U.K. cruise at the end of August as Insuredwith are no offering quotes at present. I eventually had quotes from All Clear whose cheapest one is over £100 dearer.  The agent also gave the sales talk about not guaranteeing today’s price if I didn’t take cover today  but I reminded him I hadn’t booked my holiday yet!  He’s emailed me the quote.  I’m not sure I can face another day of spending hours on the phone! Good luck.

Thanks for the information.  Could I ask you how much the quote was?  I don’t mind paying £100 more but if they are quoting into the high hundreds or thousands I really will have to think where I should cancel the holiday.

Hi , share the same condition with your mum and the cheapest and only quote I have from All Clear was £1800. Been on the phone again last Friday and that was draining as many are still not providing cover. Stay sure would provide cover but needs a confirmed prognosis on life expectancy. That itself is quite distressing as in trying to get hold of my oncologist. I wonder if I should even bother now...given that I am well enough to self repatriate for cancer treatment. And hopefully anything else may be covered by EHIC or now rebranded GHIC within the EU?

I called All Clear and was quoted £2516 for 10 days travel insurance for Switzerland.  It really is eye watering expensive but at least there is cover. I really don’t know what to do as my Mum is stable at the moment and it would be so nice to go on a bucket list trip but the insurance cost is making me think should we go at all?

We seem to be in the same boat here. My Mum’s condition is quite stable but my concern is if she caught Covid and needed hospital treatment then I don’t think I would able to enjoy the holiday without knowing we have travel insurance.  I think I would regret not taking her on holiday as she got very ill around Easter when her last medication stopped working and her current medication is working well but of course there is no guarantees of how long it will be effective.  I may have to bite the bullet and take out a second mortgage or busk in the street so people can pay me to stop singing!  The quote was for my Mum and I and I only cost £7 more!

Hello, yeah it's a tricky situation as am also checking off my bucket list. My cover was for 60 days. Covid treatment was what I was concerned about and I may be wrong but thought that maybe covered by EHIC when one is treated in a public hospital?  I am also going to pursue a route where the insurance does not cover for the cancer /treatment but more the run of mill travel emergencies. I have bought a lotto ticket to cover my bases as well ! Lol
