My mother in law was diagnosed with lung cancer last year which despite radiotherapy spread to liver and bone - tried immunotherapy but has been in and out of hospital with pneumonia and a recent scan shows further spread.
Last week she took a big decline and is now on 24 hour oxygen and stronger pain relief. She has also been moved to hospice.
The consultant last week told us she looks better than she actually is and she seems to be making progress with her symptoms improving.
no prognosis has been given and I feel I’m stuck in a loop thinking this is the end but then she seems so content and upbeat I can’t help but think she may get back to some kind of normal?
Does anybody have any advice or experience with a situation like this?
Thank you.
Hello Againwego
I am Brian, one of the Community Champions on the Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. By me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the group.
I appreciate you are in a difficult situation where you don't have a prognosis, however your mother in law is in a hospice where there is 24 hour care and her Consultant says she's improving - treatable but not curable is always a matter of "taking everyday as a new day".
I wish you well moving forward.
Best wishes - Brian.
