My mum was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer at the end of Feb. She was told on Sunday nothing more can be done as she has a blocked stomach and it has spread to her bowels, liver and stomach.
She said she would like to come home and we have been putting things in place after being awarded NHS funding however family members are saying they feel she is too ill to come home as she has declined so much. It will be too much for my brother and I especially as I have a little boy and both of us still need to work.
I am confused, can she stay in hospital or can we try to move her to a hospice? She does not want a care (nursing) home.
Will it be to much? She is ok mentally but will likely agree with family members wanting to stay in hospital.
Hello Pstar27
I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered and by me replying it will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the group,
I appreciate this will be a difficult time for you all and here's a link which I hope will help in answering your question:
The hospital discharge team should be able to finalise things for you with your own and mum's wishes included in the final choice of hospital or hospice.
Best wishes - Brian.
