Advanced prostate cancer - cold therapy and exercise limits

Hi All, my husband (44) was recently diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. In an effort to focus his mind in a positive way, we’ve changed our diet and he’s thrown himself into exercise which he has found really helpful. On a friend’s recommendation (who is supporting his wife through incurable cancer that is sadly no longer treatable) my OH has been reading about the Wim Hof Method and getting into ice baths.

I can’t see the harm in him focusing on this if it’s helping him with positivity, and stamina. Quite simply we’d be willing to give anything a try (within reason!) if it might possibly help! He emailed his oncologist to ask her views and she cautioned against this (for risk of stress on the heart) and said he should be limiting himself to 30 mins of moderate exercise a day. He’s 44, fit and strong and currently has no symptoms from the cancer. He’ll be starting chemo in a month and I know he’ll have to listen to his body then, but he is sensible and wouldn’t push himself too far.

I’d be grateful for any views from people who are trying alternative / complimentary therapies in addition to oncology care. We had IVF a few years ago and the doctors warned against focusing too much on nutrition, instead focusing on the medical side of things. We did change our diet then as it gave us a focus when everything else felt so out of control, and we ended up conceiving naturally so I do think health / nutrition played a part in all of that. I’m wondering if it’s the same here?!

He’s really flat this evening and it’s such a shame as he had got himself into a positive mindset with it all. Thanks in advance all xxx
