Mum was diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks ago, with no option for treatment as she is 84. The time scale is likely to be sooner than later but recently she has been suffering with explosive rectal incontinence .This is causing her a lot of distress and as the GP is closed and the palliative care nurse is not due until Tuesday…. I’m feeling helpless and a bit of an island.
Ah I'm so sorry to hear about your poor Mum. Bless her. We've been in a similar situation with my Dad. We only recently found out that we could ring the palliative care hub at anytime for anything....they operate 24/7. I'm assuming your Mum will be registered with them now as you've palliative nurses coming out to her. Please don't suffer in silence....you're not alone and the help is out there.....it's just knowing where!
I hope you get the help you both need and your poor Mum is made comfortable. Take care.
Sending love. Xxx
