Any tips for helping a supporter with anxiety type issues. Trying to help my wife in being the best she can be with her fathers diagnosis.
Things like sleeplessness, nausea and the shakes are pretty bad right now.
Hi Muffinmallow
I'm very sorry to read that your father-in-law has been recently been diagnosed with cancer. It must be an incredibly hard time for the whole family so it's no surprise that your wife is struggling. It's great that you have come here looking for help for her.
She might like to have a read through this Macmillan information on your feelings when someone has cancer as it gives tips on coping and how to access help. Has she spoken to her GP about how she's feeling? If not that might be a good starting point.
You could also encourage her to join the Macmillan Online Community as she could then speak to others in the family and friends group about how she feels. She might find that it helps to talk to others in the same position as herself outside of her immediate family and friends.
