My dad is now receiving end of life care I’m heartbroken it has all happened so quickly from diagnosis to now.  I am hoping to transfer him to a hospice.  I’m so confused by the new restrictions on going out I am my mums carer effectively can I still take her to see him I’m so worried I don’t want him to be alone.

I live in the U.S. and don't know if the U.K. has the same rules with Covid-19 but almost all the hospice and nursing home places have exceptions for family members supporting a loved one who is near the end of their life. I would call the hospice place and ask them for their specific rules. My prayers go out to you in this difficult time you are in.

My dad is receiving end of life care

He is in a nursing home

We've not been allowed in for 3 weeks

We can see him on video call or through his window

He is so very weak and tired

But they won't let us in until they think he only has a few days

I can't describe the pain we're all feeling

We can't be with him and we can't be with each other

I am so sorry to read your message.  My dad passed away on 26 March a week after the diagnosis.  We moved dad to a hospice and they were brilliant and made exceptions for visitors where patients were receiving end of life care.  I would give them a call even the hospital is making exceptions for patients who are receiving end of life care.

i will be thinking of you and this family it’s such a difficult time let alone with restrictions. Xx

Thank you for your kind message.  We moved my dad to a hospice sadly he passed away on 26 March I am heartbroken it’s so hard not being able to grieve with family.  I was grateful for the exceptions the hospice made for visiting it made a difference.
