I'm sorry to hear about your dad, it must be a very difficult time for you all.
I haven't used meditation so can't pass on any experience to you but I've found this information about meditation on the Macmillan website. You will see that it suggests talking to your dad's GP or hospital doctor to find out if they offer meditation.
