Hi Kate B25, Ive recently been diagnosed and have surgery on 4th Dec. They said hopefully it'll just be radiotherapy and hormone treatment after but that wouldn't start for a few months anyway so I get a nice christmas! I live and work quite close to my hospital and wondered if I would be able to go to work during the treatment if its so quick? They'd let me rest or go home as soon as I needed but im not good at sitting about doing nothing
Yes you should be fine to go to work after. There was only one day when I felt a bit under the weather and felt that I needed to rest afterwards. Good that your work will be understanding though as everyone reacts differently. Good luck with the operation. May I ask what you are having done.
Hello Nuts6d1e14 They told me to listen to my body and only do what it felt it could, and to rest as much as possible to help the good cells damaged by the RT to recover, which I thought was good advice. The last week of four RT weeks certainly slowed me down. I found walking even short distances to be hard work. But we’re all different and our bodies will tell us different things.
Just lumpectomy and sentinel node removal. Having magtrace weds.
Nuts6d1e14 Good luck. May I suggest that you ‘build a little nest’ in your bed for early days after the op. I had a mastectomy with node removal and couldn’t lie down just after. My daughter bought me a soft back rest with arms, it was invaluable for sleeping sitting up, along with extra pillows.
Ive already got a reading pillow with arms and have been trying to get used to it since im a side sleeper. Also got a neck travel pillow since I woke up with neck ache when I first tried. How long was it before you could go back to normal sleeping? Im hating the set up!! :D
To be honest it was a while, sorry. But I had a lot of nodes removed. Probably a couple of weeks but every op is different. Quite a while before I could lay on that side.
Sorry to ask you directly, but if you had magtrace, did it hurt much more than biopsy? I read on one bit that they inject the lump but another page said under the nipple. Only now starting to really worry about stuff and getting panicked!
No problem, never mind you asking. To be honest I had problems with my magseed from the start and then it got very complex, still having problems with it 10 months later so I’m not the best person to ask this question of. Yes it’s all very scary but it’s all got to be done so one day at a time. I wish you well with it all. Let me know how you get on with your journey.
