My OH went back to work on Mon, a week later than planned but we certainly needed that extra week.

My sister was here all day yesterday, we had a jaunt out & I persuaded her to go home & let me have an hour on my own.

I decided to try propelling myself in the light weight wheelchair because my legs had completely given up.
Mission accomplished, I launched myself out of the chair, whacked my head & elbow, right leg buckled underneath me & chair on top.

Couldn’t  get up but got a bit more comfortable & that’s where my OH found me. I had my phone & knew he’d be home very soon so 20 mins later, but in floods of tears & very, very shocked. Morphine & an early night helped, but still feel a bit shocked, battered & bruised. I’ve discovered that part of being independent is knowing your limitations.

What was I thinking of???? Luckily OH was very understanding. Have had a really quiet day with our youngest son who’s been working from here all day Blush xxx

I know I said she has a nature and nurture personality but that is going way way too far.  Tell her you are ill not turning into a baby.  Wow!!

  • Good you can stand up for yourself. It is hard for all of us to do that especially when we are feeling ill.

we do all have to do it sometimes to get through this

I was on the phone, a zoom call with a colleague & good friend, there were 7 missed calls from the Consultant I saw yesterday!!!! Feels like I’ve got a stalker...Bossy Friend rang yesterday while I was in the Onc Consultant appt, when I didn’t answer she started phoning other people to find out why I hadn’t answered.... aaargh!

3 good things & another warm sunny day

1 a friend called round & brought lemon drizzle biscuits , made us a cup of tea had a blether & left in an hour, perfect.

2 my son made me lunch, checked I had everything I needed, spoke to the Consultant & explained that there was nothing wrong with my phone it was just engaged and left, perfect.

3 a friend who lives 2 minutes away is happy for me to give her mobile no to friends who might panic if they can’t get hold of me. My husband is likely to be on a roof somewhere, both sons work from home but only one drives, my sister has gone back to work part time and also does child care for her grandchildren. My sister had bought me a reconditioned apple phone watch to act as my personal alarm, brilliant idea!

Another good selection. Never had lemon drizzle biscuits but love the cake!

  • Sounds a very good day and you must have your mind at rest with all theses things in place

Sounds great - I personally spent some very quality time at the Allotment watching gardener son watering the veg.  It was so peaceful-didn’t want to leave but was getting cold

You can't beat watching someone else working, I can watch other people working hours and hours, I feel so much better afterwards, almost as if I've done some exercise.

I get that - I felt very energised after

  • Hi Tinalay, Well with your Consultant and friend as stalkers, it is amazing you get any rest time at all. The friend I was talking about earlier used to phone our house phone and if it went to the answering machine, she then phoned my mobile! Then she would phone my daughter! She doesn't quite get the fact if I am talking on the house phone (to my daughter) then I can't answer my mobile!! Also my daughter can't answer her mobile while she is talking to me on her house phone!!  Get what I mean? No common sense at all! I wonder if your Consultant thought you were out for a jog!!! Lol!

    Love Annette x
