Annette and Covid 19

Hi everyone

I'm sorry to have to tell you that Annette and her husband Vince have both been diagnosed with Covid 19. That's the diagnosis that no one who is living with an incurable cancer wants to be receiving.  Understandably, they are both quite ill. Vince was first to go down with it, followed a couple of days later by Annette. Vince had a horrible cough and both are suffering from bones being painful and sweating. Annette describes the illness thus:  W H A M!!! It hits you, knees shaking, sweating by just the effort to stand up, so you go to the toilet then straight back to bed. We are both the same with very sore back, ribs etc. Nothing usually floors me like this! That's seven days tomorrow I've been in bed.

Now I'm not what you would call a particularly religious man but since Annette emailed me about Vince and then a couple of days later gave me the news that she herself had gone down with Covid 19, I've been praying every day for both of them.

Peggy, Annette has been asking me how you are so you can be sure that I'll let her know.

Take care and stay safe everyone

    Annette

  • I am glad you are both feeling better.

  • Hi Peggy, I have been worried about you! We, on the old site were friends but now I can't find a recent list of friends, so I've sent you a "friends request" but I'm not sure if you have received it yet. I'm not at all sure how I find out if you have accepted it or not!

i can't seem to be able to find your posts to read up on how you are and what's happening with you!

    Take Care

    Love Annette x

  • Hi Annette. There is a list of discussions, your post talking about technical problems is at the top. Peggy's posts are under the discussions heading, "absolutely shattered " on the second list. I hope this makes sense or that someone else can be more clear. Peggy is having a difficult time as you will see.

  • Annette I am brainless. Peggy's posts are under " no treatment" on the first list.

My only excuse is that I was up at 7.30 waiting for a telephone consultation.

    Hi Annette

I think I have accepted your friend request.I’m ok just a shame I didn’t get a good result with the chemo.I had a call on Monday not much different I asked about trials and she said not any here but told me I could go on line and see if there is any other places. Not sure how I do this or which one suits.I did ask if any other treatment but I think they are waiting to see if I am getting stronger after the chemo. She was a bit vague so if there isn’t I am going to ask for a second opinion.I am feeling a lot better but having problems with my legs.GP put me on water tablets which has helped but they still swell when I stand. My breathing isn’t so good but I get around.

Hope you and your husband are feeling better.Let’s hope thing get better next year.

Thank you for asking about me  it means a lot.Hibiscus

  • Hi Peggy, Thanks for replying even though you probably didn't feel like it!  I looked in PMs but couldn't see either your acceptance or Steph's message. I can only seem to see Notification and not Discussions, Norberry so I will write to Steph tomorrow to see if we can get this sorted out!

I am so pleased to hear you are getting a second opinion! It was my oncologist (& her Specialist Nurse)  who searched for Trials for me, at no time did anyone ever say "have a look on the Internet! Another patient I got to know at the clinic told me they had found her a trial in Manchester but it was up to her whether or not she would want to travel as far as that. I do wonder if anyone here has been told by their team to "check the internet" I would be very surprised if there is. Everyone is entitled to a second opinion, so I hope whoever you see is a lot more helpful and sympathetic! I wonder have you spoken to your Specialist Nurse who would maybe know who to see next!

Hopefully I will be able to pm you after I contact Admin. In the meantime take care!

Thank you Annette I have just seen your post I think I am missing them somehow.Well I did find it strange when she told me to look for the trial as I am not sure if I am doing it right or what I am Hibiscusoking for.I think I will ask my nurse as you said and see what she says.I haven’t asked about the second opinion yet I will wait for the next call.Im just hoping the cancer isn’t growing to fast I sHibiscuspose at least my head scan was clear.Mind I had to ring my nurse because she didn’t tell me at the meeting and at the time I forgot. Its a shame I don’t see my oncologist I see different Ones on the Hibiscusam and I think it’s harder because you are not use to them.Hibiscus

HI Peggy, sorry for late reply but I have had a bit of trouble with posts, bit hit and miss, sorry to hear your oncologist not very helpful, as for being told to look up trials yourself I find pretty darn disgusting, I thought that was your teams job?? or am I being stupid? I don't think so, I have looked up trials on the NET but there are some that need to be referred by your oncologist,  I don't think it's that easy to apply you need to speak to someone else regarding the matter and you need help, until next time stay strong and positive xx
