I've been diagnose with stage 4 terminal lung cancer but can't get travel insurance. I would dearly love one last special holiday with my husband but the assistant in the travel agents said I'd be lucky to get any company to insure me. Has any one had a similar problem but managed to resolve it?
Hi all
Gragon that policy must be a new one as my Mum used Eurotunnel in April for a trip to Barcelona. What a bummer.
I use.MIA but they will only insure me for EU countries. Can also only book within two months of travel.
Re the 6 months to live, I was told that 4 years ago so unless you have been told explicitly by your ONC that you are terminal and there are no more treatments available then you are not terminal as far as travel insurance goes. If you are terminal then you will really struggle to get insurance from anyone unfortunately.
Turkey is a difficult one. Is there any chance of explaining the situation to your travel agent and swapping your holiday to one in the EU?
Best of luck xx
Hi Minstral,
My husband is stage 4 lung cancer also. We have our insurance from BOOTS or MIA ONLINE.
We regularly go to Cyprus ((just got back) and did a long weekend in New York in Feb (that was Boots).
Both were reasonably priced and getting cover for the US was a pleasant surprise. Found Boots more flexible.
Hope this helps
Newbie (not so new now)
