Hi,
I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2017 and I've been in remission for 2 years. I received a letter from the NHS a few days ago informing me that I was in the severely vulnerable group and needed to shield myself for the next 12 weeks. I was surprised to receive this letter as it's been 2 years since my last chemo and my consultant last year told me my immune system was back to normal.
I got in touch with my oncology nurse (I couldn't get through to my consultant) who wasn't sure why I was sent the letter and couldn't give me specific advice. I'm keen to get more clarification. I'm working from home but I have 2 young kids at home. Has anyone been sent this letter who doesn't think they are genuinely at high risk and have you managed to clarify with your team?
Thanks.
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us.
Yes a lot of confusion - I was diagnosed with my rare type of NHL in 1999 and I am 4 1/2 years past my last treatment - a long journey that did include Stem Cell Transplant (see my profile) and I also received the letter yesterday.
I am going on the advise that I received from my GP and could I suggest that you talk with your GP to get their take on this.

Hi Highlander,
Thanks for signposting me to the other thread.
Just out of interest, what did your GP advise you?
thanks
You will see all the discussion in the thread but she said to “behave myself and be very very careful - no shops and one walk a day in a very quiet area and do not go near anyone for 12 weeks apart from my wife”
