Hi there, I need some help and advice please. I have had Crohns for 33 years and an Ileostomy since 1995. Over the last few years my stoma seems to have receded a little. This can cause problems with leakage. Just lately I have leaked so many times that my skin around the bottom of the stoma is badly burnt. This in turn causes a vicious circle. Sore skin, pouch will not adhere, pouch then leaks, sore skin.......and so on. I do use Brava skin protection and Orahesive powder but when the skin is this burnt and sore nothing works. I can change my pouch due to leakage, up to 7 or 8 times a day. Anybody have any suggestions, I would be most grateful. By the way reciting the stoma is not an option.................I’m a coward and can’t go through all that again. Thank you

Hi There Sorry to hear you are having skin problems, I have had a similar Problem with the Stoma retracting slightly. My Stoma nurse advised me to use convex bags, however I found these hard and quite uncomfortable so ended up with the Semi convex coloplast bags, which worked for me. These help to keep the Stoma out from the skin and help stop the Waste collecting around the opening. Hope you get the matter resolved. Best wishes Peter W .
