Hi, I’ve posted on here before but I’ve still got an on-going issue… has anyone else experienced cramps and vomiting following a stoma reversal? My reversal was Feb 2025 and I’ve had 8 incidents since then of upper abdomen cramps, which only end with projectile vomiting, It doesn’t seem linked to a particular food or activity. My GP requested blood tests Feb 2026 and amylase levels were slightly raised, so she arranged for ultrasound scans and the organs looked normal. However, I ended up in A&E with the latest incidence May 2026 and had a CT scan to check for adhesions, narrowing of the bowel or twisting. Again, all looked normal. I’ve been given anti-cramping tablets and told to try Buscopan if it happens again. But they have no idea what is causing the cramps and vomiting, so I’ve been referred back to the surgeon who did my ops, including the reversal. Any advice please?!
Hi AlbaH
I’m sorry you haven’t had a reply yet about this-I know you’ve posted about the same issue before and spoken to the nurses. I thought you had also posted in the bowel group but I don’t see a post there from you this morning.
Maybe try posting in the bowel group to see if there’s anyone there who hasn’t seen this post in the stoma group? It must be really frustrating not to get an answer from the doctors, but I’d take it as a positive that your scans look normal.
Maybe when you see your surgeon he’ll have an explanation for you-I hope so.
Sarah xx
