Hello. Can anyone help us please with advice around travelling, in particular cruising, with a port and stoma.  Is there something we need to register for to show security? It’s a bucket list trip and maybe our last and want it to go smoothly without embarrassment at security.  Thank you

  • Hi  and welcome.

I don’t have experience of a port, but do have 2 stomas and do quite a bit of foreign travel.

I’v never registered anything although I do have special assistance when I travel (wheelchair) as I am disabled. It is possible to get a travel certificate in various languages explaining your situation, which you can show and hopefully one of the others in the group will advise where they obtained theirs-I never felt I needed it so don’t have one,

All of my experiences at security in various countries have been positive ones, and I’ve found staff very respectful and discreet. They deal with this on a very regular basis so are well used to it. I’ve always been taken to a private room with a same sex member of staff for a very quick search once the scanner has identified I’m wearing something under my clothes.

We have talked about travel on these 2 threads I’ve noted below, so please have a look through and see if you find some helpful advice.

One is called “Travel Advice”. The other is called “Holiday Tips, Planes, Boats and Trains”. They are in this general discussion area of the group. I’ve bumped another couple of travel posts to the top of the page for you too.

I’m hoping someone has experience of  travelling with a port who can chat about that, and really hope you’ll be able to get your wish to go cruising. If you have any other questions about travelling, please just ask and we’ll do our best to help.

    Sarah xx
