Hi Folks
As some will know I had my LAR operation with ilestomy formed on 17th June 23. I've been passing an occasional bit of mucus from the temporarily redundant back passage and have got into the habit of wiping each time I empty my stoma bag.
This morning I found a tiny piece of wire in a heart shape on the tissue paper which I think is a staple from the surgical repair to my large intestine.
Is this something that happens does anyone know, anything to be worried about?
I have emailed the hospital colorectal nurses but still waiting for them to get back to me.
Hi Richard21
Did you hear back from the nurses about this? I had a different op and all my staples were external, so sorry-I don’t have the right experience. I also have an end colostomy so nothing at all comes “out the back” as I’m sewn up inside.
Sarah xx
